The concept

The Voi x You e-commerce website was created to sell refurbished e-scooters that previously served as sharing vehicles. After undergoing proper repair and quality checks, these scooters received a fresh new look and were made available for personal use. The concept aims to reduce waste by repurposing e-scooters that are no longer suitable for sharing and to minimize the climate impact of retired vehicles.

Solution

1. Persuade potential customers to choose second-hand scooters over brand new ones.

1. Designing a straightforward landing page that highlights the sustainability benefits of purchasing refurbished scooters.

2. Addressing customer expectations when selling scooters with scratches and flaws.

2. Implementing a mandatory step in the purchasing process to provide detailed information about the product's condition.

3. Communicating the refurbishment process of retired e-scooters to clients.

3. Including a dedicated (and illustrated) page that clearly explains the refurbishment process.

As mentioned before, creating a straightforward landing page that highlights the sustainability benefits of buying a refurbished scooter over a brand new one was a key challenge. To tackle this, I employed two main strategies.

Firstly, I designed a visually striking hero image that deviated from the typical tech-focused visuals seen on electric vehicle websites. This image merged multiple visuals to immediately convey the sustainable positioning of the product. By showcasing a scooter in a forest setting, I emphasized the freedom and flexibility of owning a scooter that can be ridden anywhere.

Secondly, I created a standout banner with custom-designed icons to quickly highlight the advantages of choosing a Voi x You scooter. This banner effectively communicated the benefits in a concise and visually engaging manner.

Another major challenge was to establish clear expectations regarding the condition of the vehicles being sold. Despite undergoing strict quality checks, each unit could potentially have scratches or significant flaws.

To address this issue, I implemented a mandatory step before allowing users to add their desired product to the cart. This step requires users to select the level of wear and tear they are comfortable with. Once selected, a detailed description will appear, providing an accurate representation of the vehicle's condition to be expected upon purchase.
